From your very first rehearsal to performing live at a real music venue. Here's how it works.
This is an example of a typical 12-week cycle. Sessions may vary depending on your group and skill level.
First Rehersal
Meet your bandmates, pick your parts, and play your first notes together
Find Your Sound
Learn fundamental techniques specific to your instrument.
First Song
Start learning your first complete song as a band
Lock In
Build tightness -- the drums and bass connect, guitars and keys find thier space.
Second Song
Add a second track to your setlist. Explore dynamics and arrangement.
Third Song
Push your skills with a more challenging piece.
Halfway Jam
Freeform jam session -- experiment, improvise, and push your boundaries.
Stagecraft
Learn about stage presence, communication, and performing for an audience.
Full Setlist
Run through all songs back-to-back. Build stamina and flow.
Dress Rehersal
Full run-through simulating gig conditions. Nail transitions and endings
Final Prep
Polish every detail. Fine-Tune your sound. Get gig-ready.
LIVE PERFORMANCE
Take the stage at a local venue and play your set in front of a real audience!

About Sessions
MUSIC LESSONS WITH A DIFFERENCE
At Sessions Music Yeovil, you will learn an instrument whilst playing in a band — your band! You will be matched with others at a similar ability and play with them every week.
Choose from drums, guitar, bass, keyboard, or vocals (or try a few instruments out). Every 12 weeks you will perform live at a local music venue!
No experience needed. No boring theory-only lessons. Just real music, real people, and a real gig to work towards.

JAKE BALL
I'm Jake, the founder of Sessions Music Yeovil. I have been playing in bands for 20 years, have a degree in song writing and have taught music to students of all ages. I set up Sessions because I believe the best way to learn an instrument is by actually playing music with other people — not sitting in a room on your own.
Sessions is about real music, real people, and real gigs. Whether you've never touched an instrument or you're looking to get back into it, there's a place for you here.
